Emergency Training at CMC
CMC is able to offer First Aid Training for people with an interest in outdoor pursuits. Courses are run under the auspecies of Axiom Training one of the largest independent first aid training organisations in the UK.
The Basic Emergency Mountain Care Course covers the requirements of the MLTB,
BCU, WCA and other national governing body requirements over two days. It also leads to the HSE 'appointed person' certificate. Closed courses can be arranged for groups of 8 or more.
The Advanced Emergency Mountain Care Course equips you with some of the skills required to look after casualties in remote areas where pre-hospital care may be a long time in coming. For this course a current first aid certificate is required as a pre-requisite for attendance. Cost £135 per person. Accommodation available - please enquire.
The Health and Safety at Work First Aid Course is required for the individuals responsible for first aid within an organisation. The four day duration allows for the syllabus to be covered in greater detail and time is allowed on the last day for a practical examination of CPR and role play assessment of other first aid emergencies.
These courses are taught to the following standards - Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations, 1981 and Approved Code of Practice and Guidance L74 14th March, 1997
These courses are an absolute must for anyone working away from immediate help or responsible for first aid cover within an organisation or an event.
Our trainers come from a varied background where they have used their skills "in the field". This includes the main emergency services as well as voluntary services such as mountain rescue. Their further studies of pre-hospital care ensure a high standard of course delivery.
Our courses are of a highly practical nature and there is no formal or written assesment. The performance of each course member is appraised using role play scenarios with realistic first aid emergency situations. A CPR examination by independent assessors is included in the Health and Safety at Work course.
For those of you interested in our wilderness training courses, appropriate first aid training can be included as part of a tailor made course, helping you to prepare more fully for your travels.
The centre is able to offer other courses and customized training for your organisation by prior arrangement.
